Open and Direct Communication
We feel strongly that direct, one-on-one relationships between a host and their manager provide an enjoyable and fun environment for openness, teamwork and productivity – where we all work together to help each of us and our company be successful.
Outrigger has a long-standing “Open Door” policy where hosts are encouraged to raise any concerns immediately with their manager, or whomever they feel most comfortable without fear of retaliation. Hosts are also welcome to voice concerns to any member of the leadership team, including the CEO, so that we can understand each other better and help. Our commitment is to listen, to do everything we reasonably can to address the situation and to follow-up with hosts.
Open and direct communication among hosts creates a healthy, thriving workplace. Under a union environment, we would be unable to communicate directly because all concerns and negotiations must go through a third-party union representative. We would lose the ability to treat every host as an individual and as an important member of our ohana.
